Polarizer Filters: Elevate Your Photography Game
Introduction to Polarizer Filters
Polarizer filters are indispensable tools for photographers aiming to enhance visual quality. They adjust light polarization, increasing contrast, enhancing color saturation, and reducing unwanted reflections.
Exploring Types of Polarizer Filters
Circular Polarizer Filters (CPL)
- Enhancing Colors and Contrast: CPLs significantly boost the intensity of skies and foliage, enriching overall color richness.
- Reducing Glare: These filters are crucial for minimizing reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water and glass.
- Improving Clarity: CPLs enhance the vibrancy of images by bringing out fine details.
- Ideal for DSLRs: Specifically suited for DSLR cameras, where autofocus and auto-exposure functions require circular polarization.
Linear Polarizer Filters (LPL)
- Preserving True Colors: LPLs are excellent at maintaining accurate color representation with minimal shift, ideal for capturing natural-looking photos.
- Cost Efficiency: They are generally less expensive than CPLs, offering a budget-friendly alternative.
- Suited for Mirrorless Cameras: Particularly recommended for use with mirrorless cameras and manual focus setups.
Advanced Options: Variable ND Filters
Combining CPL and LPL Features
Variable ND Filters merge the capabilities of both CPL and LPL, offering flexible light control:
- Adjustable Light Filtration: By rotating two polarizing layers, photographers can precisely control the intensity of light entering the lens.
- Versatile Exposure Control: Additionally, these filters are perfect for environments with changing light conditions, allowing photographers to adjust exposure without altering camera settings.
Enhanced Functionality with Dark CPL (CPL + ND Combo Filters)
Benefits of Combining Filters
The Dark CPL ND Filter Combo brings together the advantages of Neutral Density and Circular Polarizer filters:
- Vivid Color Saturation: This combo captures images with enhanced colors and depth.
- Effective Light Exposure Management: It tackles varying lighting conditions to produce balanced exposures.
- Unmatched Clarity: Furthermore, the combo ensures every detail is sharp and clear.
- No Vignetting Issues: Specially designed to prevent darkening of corners in wide-angle shots.

Great polarizer. Ease of use is exceptional. One improvement I would like to see is to make the magnet stronger so it is more secure. Understandably there is a trade in still being able to rotate it easily.

Wow, these filters are a game-changer! The image quality? Top-notch. And the build quality? It’s clear they didn’t cut any corners when making these. You can tell they really thought it through. If you’re a photographer, you’ve got to check these out. I can’t recommend them enough!

I am in agreement with the first reviewer, The magnet is not sufficiently strong. I have the wave 1 and wave 2 filters sets for 82mm and never had problems with the filters staying unless they were knocked in some fashion, I purchased the 95mm for my RF 200-800 and either it (polarizer) or the magnetic adaptor did not have the strength to hold in anything but “kit-glooves” situtations. The polarizer would hold excellently when paired with the magnetic cap but either separately or when both the cap and polarizer were on the lens the bond was not reliable. Needless to say, I am now without my 95mm polarizer; and I do not know how or when it disengaged from my adpator.

Hi Paul – So sorry to hear your 95mm Polarizer has gone missing. We have a few options to consider:
1. Because you are a kickstarter supporter, you likely eligible for a replacement filter at a significantly reduced cost.
2. We just launched our Wave 3 Kickstarter, which featured much stronger adapter and step up rings.
3. Lens hoods will prevent virtually all of the chance of knocking off a filter, unless there is a tramatic & direct impact on your lens, which you would likely notice at the time.
4. If you do not like to use lens hoods, We can also send you a 95mm RIM LOCK adapter, which would prevent accidental knock offs.
MAVEN Magnetic filters should withstand any “shake test” meaning it is not possible to shake the filters off without coming into physical contact with the filter directly or a heavy impact with the lens. This is how they were designed to work, to go on and off in an instant and for this reason, we do not recommend carrying filters on the front of your lens when not using.
ALl this said, the best way to resolve this is to reach out to us directly at support@michaelthemaven.com so we can address your lost 95mm. Thank you for your support! Michael
